The Zozimo Armchair stands out from other armchair designs due to its unique geometric volumes that are reminiscent of Japanese origami. The chair is made up of two distinct volumes that are seamlessly integrated, creating a visually striking piece of furniture. The simplicity of its lines and edges enhances the polished finish, adding a touch of refinement to the overall design.
Constructed with a wooden structure, the armchair is coated with copper plates that are 0.5mm thick. The copper plates not only provide a sleek and modern aesthetic but also ensure durability and strength. The armchair's dimensions measure 500mm x 500mm x 600mm, making it a versatile and compact piece suitable for various living spaces.
Designed with both form and function in mind, the Zozimo Armchair serves as both a decorative element and a comfortable seating option. Its minimalist design allows it to seamlessly blend into any interior style, whether it be modern, contemporary, or even traditional.
The Zozimo Armchair was the result of a year-long project based in Gramado, Brazil. Throughout the design process, Sasson and his team faced various challenges, including finding the ideal substrate and structure for the armchair. Additionally, sourcing firm copper plates that could withstand the collage process without deforming proved to be a crucial aspect of the project.
With its sleek and innovative design, the Zozimo Armchair has garnered recognition in the design world. In 2015, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category. This prestigious award acknowledges the armchair's outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and contribution to improving the quality of life through its incorporation of art, science, design, and technology.
The Zozimo Armchair challenges the boundaries between art and design, showcasing how a functional piece of furniture can also be a work of art. Its fusion of Japanese origami inspiration, geometric volumes, and polished finish make it a true testament to the possibilities of luxury design.
